Joann Baskin Brownlee, 84, was born in Abbeville County on August 5, 1939, and transitioned into Glory on March 27, 2024 at the NHC, Healthcare of Laurens, SC. She was the wife of Wallace Brownlee, Sr. She was the daughter of the late Charlie and Pearl Baskin.
Joann was a member of Flat Rock AME Church, Antreville. She was educated at Wright High School in Abbeville, SC. She worked at Reigel Textile Mfg. in Ware Shoals for many years until they closed. She worked at the Abbeville Nursing Home for many years and as a cook in the Abbeville County Schools. Her favorite pastime was going fishing with her family and caring for her beautiful flowers.
Joann leaves to cherish her most precious memories her husband, Wallace Brownlee, Sr.; her loving sons: Wallace (Teresa) Brownlee, Jr. of Ware Shoals, Odell (Debbie) Brownlee of Belton, William (Kathy) Brownlee of Greenwood, and Rev. James (Beverly) Brownlee of Ware Shoals; one loving daughter, Dorothy Brownlee of Anderson; a close cousin reared in the home, Sammy Williams of Iva; two sisters-in- law, Almedia McKethan, Lounell Brownlee both of Abbeville; 11 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Charlie Baskin; her mother, Pearl Williams Baskin; and her Aunt Dorothy Mae
Williams.
