Alonie Lee Walton, affectionately known as “Skeet,” was born on January 17, 1941 to the late Charlie and Edith Walton in Abbeville, SC, prior to relocating to Philadelphia, PA.
After relocating to Philadelphia, she met and later married Zennie Lee Hatchell, and during that union they had two children, John David and Lisa Michelle. While living in Philadelphia, she worked for Gimbles Department Store and Big Men Clothing Store. Also while living in Philadelphia, she attended New Gethsemane Baptist Church.
In June 1975, Zennie and Skeet relocated their family to Willingboro, NJ, where she went to work as a school crossing guard for the Willingboro Township. She later attended Burlington County College where she earned an Associate of Arts Degree in 1985, and an Associate of Science in 1995. She later went to work for the state of New Jersey Department of Youth and Family Services. As years went by, her health caused her to retire.
In June 2002, Skeet relocated back to Abbeville, SC, where she transitioned on May 31, 2024 at 11: 36 AM.
After relocating back to Abbeville, she began to the attend Southside Church of Christ. Skeet enjoyed spending quality fun time with her family and friends.
Skeet was preceded in death by her parents; son, John David; five siblings, Odis Walton, Melvin Peterson, Diana Donnell, Florie Smith, Annie Walton; three sisters in love Juanita Walton, Ruby Peterson, Dorothy Hatchell; three brothers in love, Ernest Jones, Fred Stein, Samuel Hatchell, Sr.; and close friend Vera Glenn.
Skeet leaves to cherish her loving memories two daughters, Cheryl Walton-Brock of Abbeville, SC, Lisa Michelle; sister, Edith Jones of Union City, GA; brother, Frankie (Donna) Milford of Greenwood, SC; brother in love, Vernon “Skip” Smith; sister in love, Dorothy Stein; former husband, Zennie Hatchell of Philadelphia, PA, whom she maintained a close friendship with; ten grandchildren, Dachelle and Alexis of New Jersey, Courtney Walton of Abbeville, SC, Tony Cotton of Texas, Anthony Brock, Jr., Ashley Brock both of Philadelphia, PA, Khadijah Hatchell of Anderson, SC, Ahmere Hatchell, Ahmaad Hatchell, Rashaad Hatchell all of Willingboro, NJ; six great grandchildren, Xzavier Walton, Anthony Brock III, Autumn Brown, Arabella Brock, Avery Brock, Connor Brock; her closest friends, Gussie Summers of Willingboro, NJ, Katherine Farmer of Philadelphia, PA, Leroy “Mr. Daisy” Bolden of Abbeville, SC, Alma Martin of Abbeville, SC, Althea “Papoose” Underwood of Upper Darby, PA, Mary McClain of Trenton, NJ; and a vast host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and a multitude of friends and classmates to honor and carry her memory.
