Amanda (McGowan) Johnson

Deaconess Amanda McGowan Johnson 100, of Abbeville, peacefully entered into eternal rest Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at Magnolia Manor in Spartanburg, SC. She was born in Abbeville to the late Lamar McGowan and the late Jessie Tate McGowan. Deaconess Amanda was a long-time member of Campfield Baptist Church, where she served faithfully on the Missionary Society , a choir member and youth choir leader. She loved attending church as long as she could. She had a passion for cooking and baking for family and friends. She loved and was loved by everyone who knew her. Her greatest love was the love she had for God and it showed in everything she did.

In addition to her parents, Deaconess Amanda was preceded in death by Robert T. “R.T.” Johnson, her loving husband of many years, all of their children: Joanne McClinton, Geri Everette, Denise Johnson and Robert T. ‘Bob’ Johnson Jr, four brothers: John T. McGowan, Eugene McGowan, Sylvester McGowan, and Matthew McGowan, four sisters: Georgianna Ward, Bessie Linton, Lillie Mae Caswell and Dorothy Ford.

Deaconess Amanda leaves to cherish her memories, one sister Darlene (Dweldon) Lovett of Fayetteville, GA; four grandchildren: Aprielle DeVoe of Spartanburg, SC, MSgt. Taz R. Brown (USAF Retired), Antoinette (Derick) Smith, and Amanda (Fongie) McGhee, all of Atlanta, GA., eight great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, two nephews, six nieces and a host of extended family and friends.
