Bernice L Starks

Ms. Bernice Lee Starks, 79, formerly of Abbeville, SC passed on Wednesday, December 22, 2021 in
Winder, GA. Born in Abbeville County on June 15, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Elijah Starks
and Minnie Lee Burton Starks. She attended Mt. Clemmons C.M.E. Church and she had worked in textile
manufacturing for many years. Bernice was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Gus,
Nathaniel, Henry Starks and one grandchild.
She is survived by two sons, Clarence (Brenda) Starks of Winder, GA and Dwanye Starks of Abbeville;
four daughters, Minnie Gene (Maurice) Martin of Kansas City, MO, Joyce (Philip) DuBose of Abbeville,
Georgia Starks and Denise Starks of Greenwood, SC; four brothers, Elijah (Sophia) Starks of Abbeville,
Robert (Annie) Starks of Calhoun Falls, David ( Sylvia) Starks of Greenwood, SC and Allen Starks of North
Carolina; three sisters, Janie Mae Hamilton of Levelland, SC, Isabell (James) Jordan of Abbeville and Ruby
Starks of Queens, NY; sixteen grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren and a host of other
relatives.
Funeral services will be 1:00PM on Thursday, December 30, 2021 in the chapel of Richie Funeral
Home with burial in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. If you plan to attend the service, the family is
respectfully requesting everyone to wear a mask. Public viewing will be Wednesday from 1:00 –
6:00 p.m. Service entrusted to Richie Funeral Home, Inc.
