Betty Jean Pressley

Honoring Betty’s Life

     Betty Jean Pressley, affectionately known as “Betty Ann”, was born on September 14,1953.  She was the daughter of the late Beatrice (Ernest) Baskin and the late L.G. Mills.  She departed this earthly life early Wednesday morning, September 16, 2020.  Betty received her education experience in Abbeville County public school system.  She was employed at Calhoun Falls Resident Care for many years and she was a member of Brownoh A.M.E. Church.

     Those who will always cherish the memories of Betty are her husband, James Pressley of the home; a stepdaughter, Sheron Pressley of Atlanta, GA; a dear friend , Charlie Heed of Macon, GA; eleven sisters, Kathleen Baskin of Calhoun Falls, Charlina (Andy) Clinkscales of Greenwood, Evelyn Tillman of Calhoun Falls, Vonnie Cummings of Antreville, Annie (Sammy) Reed of Elberton, GA, Dessie Mills of Belton, Lucille Starks and Darlene Mills of Abbeville, Dianne McCord of Iva, Bobbie Groves and Julia (Willie) Charles of Anderson, SC; four brothers, Ernest (Carol) Baskin, Jr. of Calhoun Falls, Johnny (Rosa) Mills of Abbeville, Early Mills of Iva and Jesse Mills of Anderson.  Betty is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, friends and a goddaughter, Nikki Marina of Calhoun Falls, that she cherished.

     In addition to her parents, Betty is preceded in death by her baby, Maurice Patterson; a sister, Fannie L. Teasley; two brothers, Duke Terry Baskin and Bobby Tillman; four sisters in-law, Brenda Grove, Judy Blackwell, Jackie Williams and Hazel Flanagan.

     Graveside service will be held 12 noon on Wednesday, September 23, 2020 at Brownoh AME Church Cemetery. Public viewing will be on Tuesday from 12:00 to 7:00 pm. The family is at the home.
