Carrie Mae Starks Hunter, 98, gained her wings om Friday, November 7, 2025 at Iva Post Acute, Iva, SC. She was born on December 26, 1926 to the late Carter and Corrie Starks.
Carrie was a dedicated member of Friendship Worship Center in Abbeville, SC. Carrie attended the public schools of Abbeville County. She worked faithfully as a home caretaker and found great joy in her many talents including sewing, knitting, and quilting. Carrie had a special love for caring for children, especially her grandchildren. She provided afterschool for her grandchildren and many families in her community. Her nurturing spirit and gentle heart touched the lives of all who knew her.
Carrie leaves to cherish her precious memories four sons, George Hunter, James (Pastor Marie) Hunter, Calvin (Geraldine) Hunter, Raymond Hunter all of Abbeville, SC; two daughters, Ruby (Ben) Williams of Abbeville, SC, Alice Jennings of High-Point, NC; three brothers, Jake Starks, John Henry Starks, Doc Starks; three sisters, Ema Starks, Marie Starks, Sara Starks; 28 grandchildren; a host of great grandchildren; a host of great great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
Carrie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Allen Eugene Hunter, Jr.; parents; two sons, Willie Hunter, Henry (Willie Mae) Hunter; two daughters, Pomeice Hunter and Carrie (John) Hill.
