Charlie Smith, 80, completed his life’s journey on Saturday, August 16, 2025. He was born on October 16, 1944 in Abbeville, SC to the parentage of the late Georgia Mae Smith Williams and Richard Lomax.
Charlie graduated from JS Wright High School. A few years later, he made the decision to move north to New York. There he entered the US Army and was released with honorable discharge. After being discharged, Charlie began working for the 1500 Union in Westbury, NY. He parted ways with the Union, and dedicated most of his years as a stock clerk for Hills Supermarket alongside his uncle Elijah.
Charlie met and married the love of his life, Myrtle Adams Smith. From this union, they were blessed with a daughter. Though Myrtle was called home a few years later, the love they shared continues to live on through their child.
Charlie leaves to cherish his precious memory one daughter, Sharon (Michael, Sr.) Cleveland of Simpsonville, SC; one grandson, Michael Andre Cleveland, Jr.; a special uncle, Elijah (Patricia) Smith; a special friend, Betty Griffin; a host of siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
