Clarence Henry Marshall, Jr., affectionately known as “Sonny,” 86, was born in Abbeville County on August 23, 1936 to the parentage of the late Clarence and Margie Watt Marshall, Sr. He was married to his high school sweetheart, the late Wilmatine Ray Marshall.
Clarence attended the public school system in Abbeville County, and graduated from JS Wright High School in 1956. He was a member of Washington Street Presbyterian/ New Faith Presbyterian Church. He served several years in the United States Army, and was honorably discharged. He retired from Flexible Tubing after over thirty years. He was an avid fisherman, and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
He leaves to cherish his memories three loving sons, Neil (Liddelle) of Plum Branch, SC, Steven (Gloria) of Abbeville, SC, Christopher (Virginia) of Saluda, SC; four loving daughters, Dethre Marshall of Abbeville, SC, Toni (Marshall) Patton of Washington, DC, Rachel Marshall of Abbeville, SC, Sandra (JD) Aiken of Greenwood, SC; twenty one grandchildren; twenty two great grandchildren; five sisters, Mary Makin, Betty Crawford, Margie (George) Hurgley, Joan (Ben) Wesley, Virginia Marshall of Atlanta, GA; two god daughters, Deborah Sanders and Thelma Woody; honorary daughter, Renee Posley; honorary sister, Diane Springfield; two brothers-in-law, Clarence Ray of Tampa, FL and Barry Collier of Lithonia, GA; also many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends that will mourn his passing.
