Emma Jean Slappy Thomas

Emma Jean Slappy Thomas 71, of 410 Meadow Drive, Abbeville SC., died on Monday, June 10, 2019 at her home. She was a devoted member of New Faith Presbyterian Church. She was on the usher board for over 40 years. She was born to the parents of the late, Howard Earl and Lillie Mae Ray Slappy. 

She was preceded by death her husband, James Henry Thomas, two daughters; Billie Jean Thomas Cade and Bertha Lee Thomas, two brothers; Jesse Slappy and William Slappy, four sisters; Catherine S. Swindler, Shirley Taggart, Linda Louise Slappy and Fannie Mae Calhoun, 

Emma Jean leaves to cherish her memories; five sons; James Henry (Elizabeth) Thomas of Winder, GA., Walter Jennings (Jill) Thomas of Atlanta GA., Poor Billy Thomas of Abbeville SC.,Joseph Eli Thomas of Spartanburg, SC., Aaron Dentrick Thomas of Abbeville SC., five daughters; Vickie Little of Florida, Deborah (Johnny) Chiles of Abbeville SC., Lillie Mae Thomas of Abbeville; SC., Mary Thomas of Abbeville SC., Emma Jean Ellis of Abbeville SC., Angie Denise Thomas of Abbeville SC.,and Deborah William special daughter-in- law, a brother: Joseph (Patricia) Slappy of Abbeville SC., a sister; Geraldine Slappy of Abbeville SC., twenty-four grandchildren, a host of great grandchildren, a fiance Clarence Walker of Greenwood SC., a host of family and friends. 

Viewing will be on Friday, June 14, 2019, noon to 7:00 pm, at Richie Funeral Home. Service will be on Saturday, June 15, 2019, at Long Cane A.M.E. Church, Abbeville, 2: 00 pm. The body will be placed in the church an hour before. Officiating, Rev. Dr. Alice Ridgill. Interment, Harbinson Cemetery. 

The family is at the home and Richie Funeral home is in charge of arrangements.
