Eugene Gray departed his life on February 24th, 2025 at his home surrounded by his family. Eugene was born on May 20th, 1929 to the Late Butler Lee & Georgia Anna Tate Gray. He was the youngest son of 10 children. Mr. “Spookie,” as he was affectionately known, was a Great Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, Great-Great Grandfather, Brother, Uncle and Friend! In the year of 1950 at the age of 21, Eugene ventured out to join the environment of the Free and Accepted Masons. Eugene was a member of the Precious Jewel Lodge #181 for 75 years.
On February 18th, 1956 Eugene married the love of his life, Mrs. Minnie Lee Dunlap Gray, and lived in wedded bliss for 69 years! At an early age, he joined Shady Grove A.M.E Church where he leaves the legacy of being the Father of the Church. Eugene retired from Prysmian Cable/General Cable after 30 plus years. In his spare time, he enjoyed farming, fishing and family fellowship!
Eugene was preceded in death by his three sisters; Minnie G. Cunningham, Georgia Mae Duboise and Everlena G. Edmunds; six brothers Pinkney Gray, Elliot Gray, Elgie Gray, Howard Gray, George Gray, James Moses Gray.
Eugene leaves to cherish his memories a loving wife, Minnie Lee Gray; Five daughters, Dejaris (Franklin) Crawford, Gloria (Bobby) Turner, Dorothy (late Calvin) Gray-Oxner, Mattie Lee Gray, Brenda (Derrick) Drennon; Two sons, Eugene V. Gray, Calvin (Angela) Gray; One grandson reared in the home Demetrius (Latoya) Gray; 12 Grandchildren; 27 Great-Grandchildren; 6 Great-Great Grandchildren; two Sister In-Laws, Alma Ruth Dunlap-Franklin and Jessie Gray; His Right-Hand Men, Lewis Jackson Jr., Larry Gray, & Larry Jackson, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, & friends!
