In Loving Memory of Geraldine Lucretia Belcher-Strickland
Geraldine Lucretia Belcher-Strickland of Calhoun Falls, SC, born October 7, 1963, lovingly known as “Gerri,” entered eternal rest on May 21, 2026, at the age of 62.
Born in Jamaica, Queens, New York, and raised in St. Albans, Queens where she attended the public school system. Gerri carried herself throughout life with strength, grace, and dignity. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Peter Matthew Strickland; her parents, Reverend Willie Belcher, and Mae Belcher; and her brother, Willie Belcher Jr., and sister-in-law, Tuana Belcher.
Gerri was a gentle soul with a distinct laugh and beautiful smile. She was statuesque and elegant in the way she carried herself and was blessed with a soulful singing voice that she shared with the church for many years. She loved her family deeply and spoke of them often, no matter how much time had passed. Gerri was also well informed about politics and strongly believed in the importance of voting.
She dedicated more than 35 years to law enforcement and security, serving first as a Correction Officer before moving into security management for a few major retail chains, including Walmart. Her final position was providing security for a local correctional facility.
Gerri especially enjoyed spending time with the children in her family, including Xander and Xolana Ryan, the son and daughter of Rachel Ryan, who lovingly stood by Gerri’s side and supported her as her health declined.
She leaves to cherish her memory three nephews, Corey Belcher, Willie Belcher III, and Coji Belcher, all of New York; her goddaughter, Shanelle Strickland-Brown; devoted aunts and uncles; a host of great-nieces and great-nephews; and many loving cousins and friends.
Heavenly Father, receive Geraldine into Your loving arms and grant her eternal peace. May Your light shine upon her always and may those who loved her find comfort in the memories she leaves behind. May her soul rest in peace. Amen.
