James Edward Hughey

James Edward Hughey, 82, departed this earthly life on Wednesday, September 10, 2025. He was born on October 28, 1942 in McCormick, SC to the late Omie Hughey and Pauline Freeman.

James attended the public schools in McCormick County. He found a passion for building, and dedicated many years of his life as a construction worker.

James leaves to cherish his precious memories four sons, Joe Bryson of Abbeville, SC, Edward (Daphne) Jackson of Lawrenceville, GA, Thomas (Shannon) Patterson, Walter Miller both of Greenville, SC; three daughters, Charlotte Jackson, Deborah Patterson both of Greenville, SC, Theresa Hughey of Calhoun Falls, SC; one sister, Libbie Burton of Abbeville, SC; 28 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

James was preceded in death by his parents; beloved wife, Bobby Jean Hughey; two brothers, Aidell Hughey, Earl Hughey; two sisters, Mamie London, and Daisy Hughey.
