Janie Mae Devlin Brown, affectionately known as “Sook,” 79, departed this earthly life on Thursday, November 6, 2025 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Abbeville, SC on April 24, 1946 to the late James Coleman and Fannie Mae Devlin.
Janie attended the public schools of Abbeville County. She dedicated many years taking care of others by preparing meals, cleaning, organizing, and maintaining the home.
Janie leaves to cherish her precious memories two daughters, Jacqueline Miller of Greenwood, SC, Brenda (Shirley) Miller of Abbeville, SC; six brothers, Kenneth Devlin, James W. (Dearlyn) Coleman, Harold Lee Bailey, Andrew (Pat) Bailey, Danny (Debra) Bailey, Rickey Bailey; six sisters, Julia Bowie, June Bailey, Gladys Campbell, Velma Braboy, Janice Johnson, Teresa Brown; five grandchildren, Brandon Miller of Abbeville, SC, Elon Deveaux of Iva, SC, Jamarris (Ashley) Amey, Kewanna Carson, Tanisha Amey all of Austell, GA; eleven great-grandchildren, Junarius Dawson, Breyonnia Miller, Paris Miller, Elijah Brown, Philip Deveaux, Jr., Telonni Deveaux, Jameer, Jamyiah, Keonte, Zhuri, Jah; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
Janie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Willie Ed Brown; parents; two brothers, Charles Coleman, Calvin Pettigrew; and one sister, Gloria Furman.
