Jason (Reed) Morton Obituary

Mr. Jason Lamont (Reed) Morton entered eternal rest on Monday, February 17,2020 at Self Regional Medical Center, Greenwood, South Carolina.

Jason was born on February 21, 1981 in Abbeville County, South Carolina.  He was the youngest son of the late Linda Patricia Morton and Jimmy Tate. Jason attended Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church, Hodges, SC in his youth and was a graduate of Abbeville High School class of 2000.  He worked tirelessly until he was disabled by a long-term critical illness.

Jason was devoted to the care of his mother, Linda and his children.  He was affectionately known as ‘Reed’ and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan, a Pit Bull breeder and enjoyed fishing and cooking.

He leaves a legacy of fond memories and deeds to be cherished by his children, Asia Kabria, Jayla, Asia, Jaleah and Jezrell.  He will also be fondly remembered forever by his brothers, Demetrius L. Morton (Titus & Pearl) of Anderson, SC, Jimmy Parks of Baltimore, MD and Irvin Jones of Ware Shoals, SC; his devoted grandparents, Moses and Georgia Morton; three loving aunts, Mary Alice Tate and Mamie Vanessa Morton of Abbeville, SC and Michelle C. Morton of Charlotte, NC; along with faithful cousins, Marquez Morton, Christopher and Jacqueline Tate.  Jason (Reed) is also survived by a host of relatives including great aunts, a uncle, cousins and friends.

Jason was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Terry Tate and a aunt, Betty Sandra Jones.

Service will be 2;00 pm, Thursday, February 27, 2020 at Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church, Hodges, SC. The remains will be placed in the church an hour before. Interment is church cemetery. viewing will be from 12:00 noon to 7:00 pm, Wednesday, February  26, 2020, at Richie Funeral Home. The family is at the home, 105 Linda Ln, Abbeville.
