John Allen Paul

Mr. John Allen Paul was born January 22, 1941, in Abbeville, South Carolina and was the son of the late William and Margie Hunter Paul. He departed this life on April 9, 2026, at the Self Regional Healthcare Center in Greenwood, South Carolina, surrounded by the love of his family, wife Katie Paul, son John Paul Jr. and grandchildren by his side.

John Allen attended the public schools of Abbeville County, South Carolina and worked in the textile industry for more than 50 years, retiring from Milliken in 2008. John Allen joined Flat Rock AME Church at an early age and was a faithful member of Dreher Masonic Lodge #370 for over 58 years.

John Allen was a very loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, cousin and friend. One of his greatest gifts from God was his ability to make people laugh. One could not come around him without leaving with a smile on their face.

John Allen was preceded in death by his parents, William and Margie Hunter Paul; his son, Christopher David Paul; his sister, Leila Mae Power (late Artis); and his brother, Bobby Ray Paul.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife of 55 years, Katie Paul; his son, John Paul, Jr.; grandchildren: Jayla Paul, Jalisa Paul, Aaron Paul, Kimberly Paul, Chykerya Paul, Kayla Paul, and Chiak Paul; great grandchildren: Ziya Quarles and Kasalynn Paul; two sisters: Margie Ruth Fisher (late Henry), and Jean Helen Burnett (late Harold); three brothers: William Paul, Jr., (Macie), Curtis E. Paul (Carolyn) and George M. Paul (Barbara); two sisters-in-law: Mary Power and Stephanie Young; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
