Johnnie Elmore Obituary

Johnnie Mae Jackson Elmore, affectionately known as "Scooter" by those who loved her, departed this earthly life on Wednesday morning, May 13, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and grace.

Born on December 10, 1950, in Abbeville, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Lewis Jackson, Sr. and Ida Bell Paul Jackson. Johnnie Mae began attending Shady Grove A.M.E. Church as a child, and her faithful membership continued throughout her life.

A proud 1970 graduate of J.S. Wright High School, Johnnie Mae dedicated more than 45 years of service to the Abbeville Nursing Home. Throughout her long career, she served in many capacities and ultimately became a Nursing Assistant Supervisor, where she led, guided, and inspired others to serve with excellence and compassion. For 55 years, Johnnie Mae was the devoted wife of James Lee Elmore. Together, they were blessed with two sons, the late Corey Lee Elmore and Peppy Elmore. Her heart expanded even further as she became the loving grandmother of Likisha Anderson; Godmother of Kimberly Brown Wideman; and God-Grandmother of Za'Corey Isom.

Johnnie Mae was the third of eight children: the late Samuel O. Jackson (Maxine), Mary Jane Jackson, Lewis "Joe" Jackson, Jr., Neal Jackson, Ralph Jackson, Shirley Ann Jackson, and Robert "Rick" Jackson. She cherished her family deeply and held a special place in the hearts of her many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, all of whom mourn her passing and celebrate the beautiful life she lived.

Her memory will forever remain a blessing to all who knew and loved her.
