Pastor Johnny Eugene Chiles

     Pastor Johnny Eugene Chiles was the son of Philson Turner and Bertha Chiles Morton.  He was born on February 24, 1959. On Friday, January 8, 2021 at 2:37 pm, Johnny left us to go stand before his maker, Lord and Savior, King Jesus to receive his crown (James 1:12).

     He was the Pastor and co-founder of The Life Center.  He was affectionately known as “Pop” and stood as a spiritual father to many sons and daughters of the faith.  By trade, he was a master automobile mechanic and taught many students this trade.

     Pastor Johnny was blessed with a loving family.  He was married to his best friend and founder of The Life Center, Apostle Deborah Chiles.  They birth one son, Joshua (Jenae) Chiles who now carry on the torch of pastoring The Life Center.  Also surviving is his mother, Bertha Chiles Morton of Abbeville; two brothers, Barry Morton and Patrick (Hope) Morton; one sister, Beverly (Marshall) Thomas; one aunt, Dianne Chiles of Greenville, SC; one uncle, Jerry Turner of Milwaukee, WI; two beautiful grandchildren, Jenasis and Joshua Caleb Chiles, II.  The memory of Pastor Chiles will also be cherished by a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends and his spiritual sons and daughters. 

Services for pastor Johnny Eugene Chiles will be on Friday, January 15, 2021, at Grace United Methodist Church, Abbeville. Entombment will be Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. Visitation will be on Thursday, January 14, 2021, Richie Funeral Home from 12:00 noon to 6:00 PM. The family is at the home. 

     “Pop” will be remembered not only as a man of great intellect, but also great wisdom given to him by God.  He is one of the most powerful “Hidden Figures” that God honored us with.  He now goes to receive his reward and take his rest.  His life would seem to short to many, but those who were touched by him understand that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time one lives. 

Service for pastor Johnny Eugene Chiles will be on Friday, January 15, 2021, Grace United Methodist Church, Abbeville at 1:00 PM the body will be placed in the church an hour before. Entombment is Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. Visitation is on Thursday, January 14, 2021, from 12:00 noon to 6:00 PM. The family is at the home.
