Robert Lee Jones, affectionately known as “Bobby”, was born in Abbeville, SC, on March 11, 1937 to the late John Bradley and Sammie C. Burton Jones. He departed this life on July 14, 2024 in Evanston, IL.
Robert attended the public schools in Abbeville, SC. He entered the US Army on January 31, 1955, and was released with honorable discharge on January 30, 1958. Robert was a prominent businessman. He was the owner and CEO of Bobby Jones and Associates: Diversified Real Estate specializing in buying, renovating, and selling commercial and residential properties. Robert was an advocate donor to various charities such as St. Jude, Mercy Ship, Navigators, Paralyzed Veterans of America, and many other Christian organizations. Because of his active contributions to the City of Abbeville, he was awarded several Humanitarian awards. Robert loved to be a blessing to others, and his legacy will continue to live on.
Robert leaves to cherish his precious memories two daughters, Joanne (Chester) Miller, Brenda Wharton-Dixon; one brother, John (Ollie) Bradley Jones, Jr.; one sister, Doris Black; seven grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; a host of cousins, aunts, uncles, other relatives, and friends.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Franklin Jones; two sisters, Gwendolyn Jones and Mary Fuller.
The family will be at the home of his daughter, Joanne Miller, 510 Oakmonte Circle, Greenwood, SC.
