Willie Marshall Obituary

Our beloved Willie G. Marshall, age 80, departed this life on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at Asbury Health and Rehabilitation in Charlotte, NC. Born on August 6, 1944, in Abbeville, SC, she was the daughter of the late Joe and Charline Lee Jackson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Leon Marshall, daughter, Veronica Denise Tinch, her parents and siblings: Tony, Joe, Vonnie, Charlie, and her dear sister, Queen Esther Jackson.

Willie G. was a dedicated mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend, known for her deep love for her family and her kind, caring heart. She was a member of Cypress Chapel A.M.E. Church. She received her GED in 1986 and held various custodial jobs throughout her life. She also served as a Caseworker with the Abbeville County Department of Social Services, but it was in the role of caregiver to her family that she truly shone. She devoted herself to her loved ones, sacrificing her own career aspirations to care for them with unparalleled devotion.

Willie G. had a special place in her heart for seniors. She built meaningful relationships with many elderly individuals, often spending time chatting on the phone with her neighbors, family members, and anyone else she met. Her days were filled with conversations, especially with one of her favorite cousins, Grover Lee, nephew, Walter B. Jackson, and her cherished sisters. Whew, those sisters! They would talk for hours, and laughter was never far behind.

In her free time, Willie G. enjoyed going to yard sales and Goodwill, where she always seemed to find treasures she fondly referred to as "good junk." Her humor, quick wit, and lively spirit were a constant source of joy to those around her. She was known for her playful banter, often calling people "ugly" or "stupid," only to laugh in delight when they would return the same teasing words. Willie G. was truly one-of-a-kind—an unforgettable personality who touched the lives of all who knew her.

She leaves behind a legacy of four children: Carolyn Marshall, Allen Donaldson (Terri), Belinda Marshall, and Leon Marshall (Myra). A God-daughter, Darlene Brownlee. Fourteen grandchildren: Diko Tinch (Tamica), Syreeta Tinch, Jamaal Marshall, Marcus Tinch (Ashley), Demarcus Holloway, Christina Brownlee, Sitori Sussewell, Tashyma Brownlee, AuriAwn Anderson, Aubrie Anderson, Altavious Pratt, Alexus Enwright, Joshua Donaldson, and A’Maya Marshall. Nine great-grandchildren: Ambria, Mykal, Anecia, Mariah, Ny'Riah, D'Kodi, Serenity, A'Kieanna and Kerrington. Three sisters: Mary Ruth Brown, Charlene Jackson, and Mary Frances Dawson, and one son-in-law, Gene Tinch. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and an extended family who will forever carry her memory in their hearts. Her love, laughter and selflessness will never be forgotten.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Frankie Mae Foundation (www.Frankiemaefoundation.com) an organization that has been instrumental in Belinda's caregiving journey.
