Willie Mae Sanders, 93, transitioned into her eternal home on October 23, 2025 at NHC Healthcare in Greenwood, SC. She was born in Abbeville, SC on December 13, 1931 to the late Florine Pickney and Eugene Sanders.

Willie Mae joined Shady Grove AME Church at an early age.

Willie Mae is survived by her five children John (Lena) Sanders of Greenwood, SC, William Sanders of Calhoun Falls, SC, Lewis Sanders of Greensboro, NC, Melvin Sanders of Greenville, SC, Shirley (Horace) Thomas of Calhoun Falls, SC; one sister, Mary Frances Sanders of Thomasville, NC; 11 grandchildren, Emmanuel Thomas, Kelvin Johnson, Carlos Gray, Travis Robinson, Jasmine Sanders, Jessica Sanders, Michael Cade, Shelby Grant, Cody Glenn, Angelica Moore, Shannon Sanders; many great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Willie was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Robert Sanders; three brothers, Olin Sanders, Charlie Melvin Sanders, James Sanders; and one sister, Betty Sanders.
